‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ for those of you that have read it what are your thoughts?

A riveting heartfelt, story. This fictional book explores the life of Mariam and Leila and their lives as Afghan women as they try to escape the civil war, and abuse of their husband. It sheds light upon the struggles Afghan women faced whilst living in Afghanistan with the Taliban’s siege many women were subjected to abuse and oppression. Their basic rights were restricted as well as their freedom of movement. Khaled Hosseini’s story feels real and raw. A moving piece allowing you to connect with the characters and their struggles.
